Lambano Sanctuary
Founded in 2001, Lambano Sanctuary is a patient and family centred medical step-down facility for children and adolescents who have been referred from hospitals and other facilities.
Since 2001, Lambano Sanctuary NGO has provided a loving permanent home to over 30 children in response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, achieving an 85% rehabilitation success rate in their medical recovery. This inspired the move from children’s homes to children’s medical and palliative care. From 2009 to February 2025, Lambano delivered more than 50,000 medical and palliative care interventions in the little lives of children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
Now, through the help of an angel donor, Lambano has built South Africa’s first dedicated children’s sub-acute facility, specialising in step-down medical and rehabilitative care.
